And everyone loves creating a landscape in any medium!
These quick sketches were drawn at different times. I made them look pretty for the website. Normally I sketch ideas on all kinds of papers, once on the back of a check, or napkin, anything I can get my hands on at the time when I see something, someplace, or scene, that inspires me.
Having a sketch book on hand is perfect for quick sketches. When you don't have a sketch book handy, I might suggest you begin to start a file and keep your inspirational sketches available in one place, so when the time comes for "Smudging" you are ready to bring out your ideas and sketches to begin. Being organized definitely helps.
Reminder...Breaking down an image into it's most simplistic shapes, elements and forms is what is desired for your template. Thinking positive shape and negative shape, and what you wish to show on the final paper is the challenge. Once you get it, you are on your way...
* * * As always, please send your completed smudge works to art@oilpastelsmudge.com and I will share them on this site and social media. Place in Subject Line: Smudge to Share! Thanks, Carol
