I have been giving the Oil Pastel Smudge technique a lot of LOVE this year. Sharing it with all types of people, in all types of situations. Having a great time with a Smudge! I just wished to show you a LOVE piece I created recently. It's for the LOVE of a SMUDGE! What a wonderful ride it has been. More to come!

What's this about a "Smudge!" I had a great time sharing about a "Smudge" with the members and friends of the Nevada Artist Association's September meeting. Years ago I was a Board Member of the organization as their Media / Promotion Director, before I had a grasp of the computer and the internet. Times have certainly changed. I picked up a MAC Computer and my art and business started to boom. We had a great time and as always when I am sharing a "Smudge" I always have a group from the audience give it a try. Check out the next post!
This is the 2nd series of "For the LOVE of a Smudge" Show / Exhibit / Sale of Students Work. Much Gratitude to the Nevada Arts Council, Lifetime Arts, the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies and the E.A. Michelson Philanthropy Group for funding this exciting project that has taken me to new heights and understanding of how to go about presenting the technique and concept to the community. See you at the Show! My Students work is Amazing! Come see for yourself what a Smudge can do!
I recently received grant funding with Lifetime Arts, Inc / Creative Aging and the Nevada Arts Council to offer a FREE Oil Pastel "Smudge" Workshop to Older Adults 55 & Better! I wish to also thank The Sparks Museum & Cultural Center for their kind offer to host the series. If you are living in the Truckee Meadows area of Reno/Sparks this is a great way to have fun, make new friends and create some great art. Love to see you in class! The tulips are blooming everywhere! One of the first signs of Spring!
My favorite time of year! Enjoy! This is a post from the Oil Pastel Smudge FaceBook page! If you have not gone there to check things out you may just with to do just that! Lots of loving Smudging to share! Please Follow and Like!
I took one image of 3 ornaments and created several items to match working with the same image, my Apple computer, scanner and printer! 1. Original Framed 2. Card to Match 3. Wrapping Paper for small packages. ...Not shown: You can also have the Wrapping paper laminated and it would make a great placemat for the Holidays. You can do the same, give it try.
A slightly round or oval negative space is able to be so many things. Create the oval or circle in several sizes and you have what I suggest here. I added leaves for interest. I also drew in pencil stems. Just try working with a circle to see what you come up with. Have fun! Experiment and Play! It's all about a "Smudge!"
This piece I created during what is called a "Quick Draw" Fundraiser. Several Artist's have 90 minutes to create a piece of art that is then auctioned off for funds to support a particular non-profit organization or entity you are wishing to help fund. I am really proud of this piece. I walk along a path in the desert that has this fabulous plateau. This is my impression of that area. Create images that you are familiar with. You can't go wrong with a smudge! Try it!
