How exciting for me to be so passionate about creating art in a particular technique and to see others from all over the globe find something exciting in it as well.  Below you will find some of the comments the CHA Members wrote down in a Questionnaire which was handed out at the end of the workshop.  Come learn and be inspired by what a Smudge can do!

I was totally exhausted tearing down my booth after the show had ended on Sunday, Sept. 8.  I was thinking how am I going to get everything I brought to the show back inside my little Rav 4 car, including the huge presentation grates, which I borrowed. My solution... I would have to tied them to the top of my car to deliverer them back to my friends home. All the packing up came to a sudden halt to announce the Winners of the show.   At the end of the announcement, I heard my name.  That perked me up, right away!  I never expected it. I received a check and the honor of having one of the most creative booths in the show.  How exciting and a wonderful surprise!  I love when things like that happen.  Totally unexpected!  And what an honor! 

My sincere thanks to Ahren Hertel and Megan Berner the Jurors.  Christine Fey, Nettie Oliverio, Lisa Kornze, Sharon Spangler, Sandy Brown, the City of Reno, and the Reno Arts Commission.  And to both Brad and Robin who helped me tie down the grates to the roof of my car.

It is GREAT to be in the company of so many fabulous Artists showing their work and having the opportunity to be voted on to have one of our pieces purchased by the City of Reno.  I am so excited…I bet you can guess what ART, that I create, got me in to the Show?  Oil Pastel Smudge it is!   Come see what a Smudge can do...at the City of Reno ART BLAST   Sept. 7 & 8 

Two pieces of Carol Foldvary-Anderson's Oil Pastel Smudge works were sold during the Nevada Land Trust's  "Art of Conservation" benefit which took place at the Wilbur D. May Museum in Reno, NV during this years ARTOWN event.  Many thanks to the Nevada Land Trust for their fabulous work organizing over 30 artists to exhibit and sell their works to benefit this wonderful cause to preserve wilderness lands for our future generations to enjoy!     www.NevadaLandTrust.org

The focus on this OIL PASTEL SMUDGE class is in the creation of fabulous shapes and patterns using this exciting technique working with a template you create yourself.  Beginning students of Oil Pastel are encouraged to apply. I created this set of three abstract flowing images at the end of about a two hour session.  Creating landscapes for a show I had planned to enter.  I was adamant about producing - something "real looking". Getting frustrated, in not getting the perfect result, I then just let my self go and not worrying about the end result, I created the above abstract images.   They have a more free and fluid look.  I like it!  I can't wait to get back to doing some more in this abstract flowing style.  What have you been coming up with in this exciting new technique working in Oil Pastels?  I would love to see and share your works with others on this site.  Email your finished work to [email protected]
